Alton, IA – On Saturday, August 9, at 8:00 a.m. Sioux Golf will be hosting an 18-Hole Hickory Stick Golf Event. Participants will be using Hickory Stick clubs, which Wreed Associates, from Des Moines, will be providing for the event. This will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for many, taking participants back to the style of golf played when Sioux Golf was first opened in 1888.

Sioux Golf’s long history began when Mr. W. S. Slagel built a 4-hole course in his pasture in 1888. Since then, Sioux Golf has grown and developed into a beautiful 9-hole course. Sioux Golf celebrated 125 years in business last year and one event in their Celebratory Weekend was a Hickory Stick event. The participants last year enjoyed the event so much they asked for it to make a return to this year’s Calendar of Events. That request has been honored and once again the Hickory Sticks will make an appearance on Sioux Golf. The format this year will be an 18-Hole, Shotgun start, play-your-own-ball type of event. Interested participants should feel free to sign up as a 4 person group, as a 2-some, or as an individual – we will make sure you are paired with fun people to golf with. It will be played on Sioux Golf’s beautiful course which features tree-lined fairways, fast greens, a creek that will come into play on several holes, and will include the many hills which Sioux Golf is known for - leading to interesting lies and golf stances. Everyone is encouraged to sign up to participate in the Hickory Stick Golf Event by July 23rd.  Spots are limited and are on a first-come, first-served basis. Pre-payment will be required to reserve your spot. Please contact Sioux Golf to register yourself or your group. The cost is $50.00 per person – which includes your Hickory Stick club rental.

Anyone interested in reserving spots to participate in the Hickory Stick Event can do so by contacting Sioux Golf at 712-756-4513. Be sure to “like” Sioux Golf on Facebook to stay informed on all the upcoming events.
