"Toto, I have a feeling we're not in 'California' anymore!" That was
the feeling I had recently when I hopped off the plane in Sioux City,
Iowa.
Hello Siouxland! For this California girl, you are something to
marvel at! Living in North San Diego County my whole life, I was
always 10 minutes away from the beach and hours away from the snow.
Now, the snow is all around me and I'm excited to start 2016 off in
the Midwest!
I was bit by the news bug in high school, so when I graduated, I
knew exactly what I wanted to do. I attended Palomar Community college
where I was a pioneer for their first 'live' broadcasts across North
County; 'Prep Sports Live' and ' North County News.' Then I
transferred to Point Loma Nazarene University, where I received a
Bachelors degree in Broadcast Journalism. I wrote for the campus
newspaper, had two jobs at the campus radio station and was the News
Manager for their campus newscast. I was also blessed to receive an
award from my career idol; the "Carol LeBeau Award for Outstanding

Student in Broadcast Journalism."
My first job in the news business was at KUSI-TV in San Diego,
starting off as a news writer and moved up to producer for the morning
show. I took that great experience, started looking for a reporting
job and now here I am, excited to be apart of the KCAU family.
I have a passion for the news industry and for storytelling. I am
eager to get out, see all Siouxland has to offer and meet all the
people that make it the wonderful place I've been hearing about. I
believe those in the news business have a very big responsibility to
the community and I'm proud to honor that here in Sioux City.
Surrounded by sand or snow, my passion for people remains the
same. Everyone has a story to tell and as a journalist, I consider it
a great privilege to help tell them. If you see me wandering around,
please stop and say 'Hi,'  and possibly give me some directions
because I may be lost! Can't wait to meet you!
