2016 Race for Hope hits $34,000 dollar mark

Proceeds from the event benefit local cancer patients

One of the areas best known running events is getting new life.  Scheels all Sports in Sioux City is partnering with the June E. Nylen Cancer Center ensuring that the annual Race for Hope will continue.

Event organizers are calling it a "Dream come true".

Final numbers from this month's Race for Hope are in.  The 20th Annual 15 and 5K generated about $34,000 dollars with 725 participants.  Every dollar raised, stays in Sioux City.

A date for the 2017 Race for Hope has not been set.
