Wells Enterprises has contributed to the state and local economy for more than 100 years, and now, they plan on having even more to offer.
Iowa's Economic Development Board approved the expansion plans to add two new Blue Bunny production lines, plus pay for improvements to its primary manufacturing site.
The IEDA Board approved an award of more than $3 million under the High Quality Jobs Program.
On top of that, the City of Le Mars is providing a local match tax abatement for the project.
With that $40 million capital investment, Blue Bunny lovers are going to see some improvements and upgrades.
"I think it's a great idea. For a community like this to even have that expansion is really a blessing so it would be exciting to see that," says Lauren Papero, a Blue Bunny customer.
"I think it's a really great thing, I guess Wells does a lot for our community and provides a lot of jobs for us so I think the community will have a pretty great reaction to it as well," says Joshua Hodgson, a Blue Bunny customer.
"People moving here can make more money around town. Jobs. That's positive as well, It's been around and I think they're going to get bigger, not just in Le Mars; I think more places will get Wells corporation or Wells Blue Bunny around their states and stuff so I think it's positive," says Trista Rann, a Blue Bunny customer.
On top of creating two more production lines in addition to their already existing 39, Wells is expecting to create 81 new jobs.
