An annual effort to help folks in Haiti was a big success in Cherokee Wednesday.
The Cherokee County Hunger Stomp' produced more than 62,000 meals to sent to Haiti.
Area schools brought their students in to help and people from local churches volunteered.
One bag of soy and rice mix-- will feed three people in Haiti. Organizers say it's a rewarding way to give back.
Mike Frandsen with Meals From the Heartland says, "It's just an amazing thing to see, communities come together to package meals for people they won't even meet, I love it."
Meals From the Heartland says their goal this year is to prepare 17 million meals.
