A collision caused a vehicle to rollover at the intersection of Court and 5th Streets Tuesday afternoon.

A Jeep Liberty coming northbound on Court Street, ran a red light. The Jeep struck a Kia Sportage that was coming eastbound on 5th Street causing the Kia to flip over. There were no serious injuries, both drivers were able to get out of their vehicles. The driver in the flipped over Kia was taken to Mercy Medical for minor bumps and bruises.

"The airbags on the Kia Sportage deployed, it was flipped on its top. It probably protected the driver from any further injuries. Both were seat belted, so that helped out as well" says Officer Tom Gill, Sioux City Police.

The driver of the Jeep who ran the red light will be cited for failure to obey a traffic control device.
