An eventful night in a very small Siouxland community.

Only about 60 people live in Rodney, Iowa, which is in Monona County, south of Smithland.

So, a fire on Main Street caught everyone by surprise and people aren't sure what to make of it.

Around 6:00 p.m. Friday evening, a fire broke out in a home on the street.

After unconfirmed reports of an explosion, folks tells us the fire started in the homes kitchen.

So far officials are not speculating on what may have sparked the fire.

About seven different agencies were called out to assist with the fire.

Neighbor Elaine Klein was working outside with her husband when she heard the neighbor screaming.

"I ran across the street and there she was she was stuck in her back door so then I hollered for Frank and he came over and we got her out of the doorway cause the kitchen was burning pretty good then, said Klein. "So we had to get her away because the glass was going to go and then we got her out and the glass blew out. "

Klein said that their neighbor lives there with her daughter and grandson.

No one was hurt in the fire, but the house was destroyed.
