If you're planning to attend Friday's Iowa Vs Nebraska Big Ten football game get there early. That's the word from Lincoln police and university security.
It may mean traveling light and opening your coat. "Rest assured we will have an enhanced presence but we hope Husker fans will be relaxed and focused on the action on the field, which will be a Husker win," said Steve Smith, of university communications.
Police will have increased security at doors and throughout the stadium and don't be surprised if they ask you to open your coats and jackets at the gate. They're also closing two gates, 6 and 8, while gates 1, 17, 18, 19, 21 and 22 are closing at kickoff; instead of staying open through the 3rd quarter.
University officials say they want to make sure fans know there is no specific threat for Friday’s game, it's just in response to what's been going on internationally.
So if you're going to the game make sure to arrive early and make plans to find you seat early as well avoiding waiting in long lines for a long time.
Kickoff is at 2:30 Friday and the game airs on ABC9/KCAU-TV.
Make sure watch for a thirty minute "Boarder War" special airing on ABC9 Thursday at 6:30pm. Game day includes a one hour pregame show live from Lincoln and the Hard Rock Casino Sioux City beginning at 10am.
