Woman facing charges after incident early Friday morning

A 35-year-old Bloomfield woman is facing numerous charges after authorities say she threw a meth pipe at Walmart employees. 

According to the Norfolk Police Division, officers were called out to the Walmart store around 2:45 A.M. on Friday after the report of an intoxicated Woman yelling at a Coinstar machine. 

When authorities arrived they encountered Melinda Tyler, who yelling at store employees. Walmart staff directed officers to a glass pipe on the ground that Tyler had thrown at the employees prior to their arrival. Police say that the pipe had struck one of the employees and caused a cut on that person's wrist. The pipe tested positive for methamphetamine. 

Police then attempted to take Tyler into custody and she struggled with officers, punching and kicking them in the process. She was eventually placed into handcuffs and transported to the Madison County Jail. 

Tyler has been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Resisting Arrest, Obstruction, 2nd Degree Assault, Assault on a Police Officer and Disturbing the Peace.
