Lawmakers in Washington, D.C. are taking the final steps to bar governments to tax internet users.

Congress passed a bill 75 to 20 that prevents state and local governments from taxing consumers for accessing the Internet.

The bill has already passed in the House of Representatives and is now headed to President Barack Obama's desk.

Obama is expected to sign the legislation into law
