A number of popular websites like Amazon and Netflix that were completely down for a couple of hours this morning. The lack of access to the sites appears to be a massive "denial of service" attack or DDoS.
A denial of service attack is an attempt to flood a website with so much traffic it impairs service.
According to tech news, the outage is a result of an attack on a website domain manger's server.
Twitter, Etsy, Github, Netflix and several other sites were heavily effected.
The outage started around 8 AM but after 10 AM the services were restored to normal.
