Man would allegedly abuse girl while babysitting

A 37-year-old Sioux City man is facing felony charges after admitting to police that he sexually abused a girl he babysat over the course of several years. 

According to court documents Bryan Barnhart babysat the girl from 2006-2011 starting when the girl was 5-years-old. Authorities say that Barnhart would walk from his home on Morgan Street to a gas station on Floyd Boulevard and bring the victim with him. After being confronted with the allegations, Police say that Barnhart admitted that he would inappropriately touch and fondle the girl during the walk. Authorities say he also admitted to sexually abusing other children in the same manner.

Barnhart is currently charged with one count of 2nd Degree Sexual abuse. He's being held in the Woodbury County Jail on a $35,000 bond. His next court date is scheduled for September 6th at 9:00 A.M. 

2nd Degree Sexual Abuse is a Class "B" Felony in the state of Iowa and carries a maximum penalty of up to 25 years in prison.
