There's a new memorial at Sioux City's West High School.
Unveiled Friday, it honors West High alumni who went on the serve in the military.
The names of upward of 100 former students are already part of the encased memorial. Students and their families gathered with administrators for the unveiling.
West High Principal Scott Cole says the memorial serves as a reminder to students of the sacrifices made to defend our freedoms.
"It's extremely important that we always recognize those who have given us the freedoms that we enjoy every day. And it's very important that our current students understand that the freedoms they have-- education, for example-- was provided by the folks we see on the board that have graduated from here that have served in the military," says Scott Cole.
