The Iowa State football program has hired Toledo's Matt Campbell as their new head coach.
The Cyclones made the hire official just after 2:00 on Sunday afternoon.
In four plus seasons at Toledo, Campbell compiled a 35-15 record, including a double-overtime win over Iowa State this season.
The deal with Iowa State is a six-year deal, with a first year salary of two million dollars.
Athletic Director Jamie Pollard made a statement Sunday afternoon about the hire.
"Matt's coaching and playing achievements are extraordinary, but we were even more impressed by his character, leadership and commitment to his family. We are truly blessed to have one of the industry's rising stars lead our football program," said Pollard.
Matt Campbell also released a statement on Sunday after the hire became official.
"I couldn't be more excited to receive the opportunity to coach at Iowa State," said Campbell. "Their fans, the game-day environment and facilities are all incredible."
Campbell will be introduced at a press conference in Ames Monday at noon.
