Hi, my name is Andy and I started at ABC9 in 2012 as the Morning News Producer. I also shoot high school sports when they let me, and cover breaking news whenever I get the chance.

I was born in Sioux City, and grew up in Elk Point, South Dakota. I went to Elk Point-Jefferson, and remain a devout Husky supporter to this day. Nearly all my family lives in Siouxland, as do many of my friends that haven’t moved to Sioux Falls already.

After high school, I studied Earth Science at the University of South Dakota before discovering a passion for news at Northeast Community College in Norfolk. There I served as the Editor-in-Chief of the College Newspaper and TV station manger of the College TV Station. I started at ABC9 while still in College.

When not at my desk in the newsroom, I spend  my  time with my beautiful wife, adorable daughter, and rambunctious puppy. My hobbies include fixing cars, playing guitar and researching seemingly random topics for hours on end.

I have also worked as a photographer on the side since 2009, but work infrequently due to the fact that I hate running a business.

Siouxland is important to me, and so is the news. I’m lucky enough to do what I love, where I love to do it.
