18-Year-Old Arrested After BVU Burglaries

Student Charged With Felonies in Thefts From Buena Vista University Dorm Rooms.
STORM LAKE, IA (ABC9)- A Buena Vista University student has been charged with multiple felonies after authorities say he broke into several dorms on campus over the weekend. Police received a report on Monday that several dorms had been broken into late Sunday night or early Monday morning. Victims reported that cash, credit cards and personal items were stolen from their dorm rooms on the first floor of Pierce Hall in Storm Lake.

On Tuesday, police learned that one of the stolen credit cards was used at several businesses in Storm Lake, including the Wal-Mart, which was able to get video of the suspect and his car.

Police were able to track the car to a parking lot at Buena Vista University. They were able to identify the suspect as 18-Year-Old Justin Todd from North Carolina. A search of Todd's dorm room in that same complex turned up cash, stolen credit cards and items police say were purchased with those stolen credit cards.

Todd has been charged with 7 counts of Felony Burglary, 4 counts of Unauthorized Use of a Credit Card, Forgery and Possession of Alcohol by a minor.

He's currently being held in the Buena Vista County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
