Creighton's McDermott Picked by Denver but Headed to Bulls

According to the NBA's rookie salary scale the former Ames High School standout will be paid just less that $2 million dollars in his first season.
Omaha, Nebraska (ABC9 Sports)- A lifetime dream and goal came true on Thursday night for former Ames High School basketball All-State performer Doug McDermott.  He was selected in the NBA draft.  The former Creighton University standout was selected 11th overall by the Denver Nuggets.  Shortly after McDermott walked onstage in Brooklyn, NY wearing a Nuggets cap he tweeted out "Da Bulls", an indication that he was being traded to Chicago.  In college McDermott finished with 3,150 career points, 5th most in NCAA D-1 history.

Chicago reportedly surrendered the 16th and 19th picks overall to acquire McDermott who played for his dad Greg at Creighton the last 4 years.
