Grieving Parents Share Daughter's Message

Hearts were heavy as dozens of family and friends gathered Monday to reflect on Coral Deal's life and who she was.
Sac City, IA (ABC9 News) - Hearts were heavy as dozens of family and friends gathered Monday to reflect on 16 year old Coral Deal's life and who she was.

"She was a true angel. And she was already doing all this work. But now she gets to do from up above in a whole new way. And it won't be missed because she is living so much in everybody." says Heather, Coral's stepmother.

Monday, friends and family held a celebration of her life after Coral was killed last week when her car collided with an RV. Her father and stepmother say they want to remember the brightest sides of their teenage angel.

"The biggest things she fought for was organ donation. She just got her intermediate temporary license and she told the lady at the DMV You gotta make sure it's marked. And it was like she knew that something was going to happen." says Coral's father, John.

Her friends and family say no matter what, Coral made it her duty to make you happy.

"She was the most outgoing person that you could think of. She did every charity that you could think of from when she was so young. She wanted to make sure that everybody had a great holiday and a great time and just enjoy life the best they could." adds John.

Though her life was cut tragically short, her family says the legacy Coral is leaving is a happy one.

"To me, that sums up Coral. Her addictive smile, her laughter, just the way she was."

Coral's favorite quote:
'Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass; it's about learning to dance in the rain.'
