Iowa Offense Tries to Flip Script

Iowa is traditionally known for its defense, but this year's offense is trying to change that
IOWA CITY, Iowa (ABC9 Sports)--The Iowa Hawkeyes under Kirk Ferentz have traditionally been known as hard-working with stellar offensive line play, and a stout defense.

But three star linebackers graduated after last season leaving the Swarm in a bit of flux.

The offense, however, is ready to step up and carry the team.

"We've got a lot of experience, a lot of guys who know what it takes," said lineman Austin Blythe. "But at the same time we have to execute that. We can't just talk about it, we have to be about it, that type of thing."

After implementing some no-huddle last season, the Hawkeyes are excited to push the pace even more this fall.

"Getting the defense tired is what we want to do, wear 'em out, and we've been doing a lot of conditioning this summer, getting us ready for the season," said Tevaun Smith. "We're excited for that, that up-tempo offense."
