Valiant Vineyards Puts On Annual Wine Festival in Vermillion

You don't have to go to Napa Valley to get some good wine.
Vermillion, SD (ABC9 News) - Napa and Sonoma are two names that come to mind when most people think of wine, but luckily, wine enthusiasts in Siouxland don't have to go too far to get their hands on some.

Valiant Vineyards in Vermillion, South Dakota is hosting its annual wine festival featuring some of South Dakota's finest wines. Organizers say the event isn't just for folks who are wine experts. It's for everyone. Some of the cool things to check out are the wine tasting, wine making, food pairings and private barrel room tasting, where a mine maker takes a group down to a cellar and pours the wine out of a barrel. Workers at Valiant Vineyards say it's events like these that make the Midwest a great place for wine."

It's definitely a new industry for the Midwest here. They have whole hardy grape development programs but they've been bringing high varieties and more varieties to make wine in the Midwest,” said Adrienne Lewis, Valiant Vineyards Event Coordinator. The event will be going on tomorrow as well, so get a chance to try out some tasty wine while you can.
