Wayne, NE Tornado October 4, 2013

Tornadoes are very destructive and extreme forms of weather. Here in Siouxland we are not immune to these scary weather systems as we saw last fall.
The tornado that tore through Wayne, NE on October 4, 2013 was the first EF-4 tornado in the state of Nebraska since 2004.  The tornado lasted for over a half hour and caused a 19 mile long and over mile wide path of destruction, totaling over $500,000.  Some of the hardest hit areas were the airport as well as a farming implement business.  While there were 15 injuries no fatalities were reported.  Overall this tornado was one of the strong in Siouxland in quite some time.
